Coach Gomes was born in Madeira, Portugal.  He speaks fluent Portuguese and English.  Roy moved to the United States from Portugal at the age of 6.  He graduated from Woburn High School where he was voted Most Valuable Player on their Middlesex League All-Star 1st Team. After school Roy played semi-professionally for 9 years.  His passion for the game has him playing still, currently on a Div 1 Massachusetts OTHSL 0-40 team.  Roy has been coaching for 9 years, 4 years in Travel soccer programs and 6 years in M.A.P.L.E., and holds a USSF National "C" coaching license.
